TURBO SYSTEM

After having processed the data measured both in empty and loaded cabinets at different humidity conditions Aisberg engineers had to check this data in practice. Can we really save energy in a “natural conditions” of an operating supermarket? If yes, then how much? It was evident that the supermarket ambient conditions would have effect on cabinet performance in some way. Influencing factors would be air conditioners, cabinet loading frequency, personnel and customers quantity, etc. The question was if the expected efficiency rated would be confirmed.

Full-scale tests were carried out in operating supermarket. There were used 13 Medusa wall cabinets, manufactured by Aisberg Company. Each week Aisberg technicians and technical personnel of this supermarket were switching cabinets from standard mode to the turbo one. Power supply of the tested refrigeration unit was effected through an individual electricity supply meter. This device was measuring power consumption when the fans were working both in a standard mode and the turbo one. This experiment, took place from 15.05.2006 till 15.05.2007 and showed very interesting results.

The calculation made on the basis of this data showed that average annual energy saving will be 10% just due to the turbo mode. In other words, if refrigeration cabinets in a supermarket operate in a turbo mode, all the year round, refrigeration plant will become 10% more efficient . And these fans are a little bit more expensive. But these expenses will be repaid in less then nine month.
